We fund our programs and ministries through proceeds from our thrift store, as well as financial gifts from churches, individuals or corporations.
Please mail checks to:
Bridge Ministry of Burton Texas
P.O. Box 68
Burton, Texas 77835.
Checks also can be hand-delivered to our pantry/office at 307 North Brazos in Burton. We are open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and Wednesdays from 2:30-5 p.m.
Financial gifts also can be made via PayPal.
We always welcome gifts of fresh produce from area farmers, as well as farm fresh eggs from area hatcheries. Please bring us your empty egg cartons if they are still clean.
Our pantry purchases or pays a shared cost for the food that it sources through the Brazos Valley Food Bank, and would happily order more product if it were available. But ever since TEFAP funding was interrupted, our ordering portal has not been abundant.
Children, senior citizens, and families cannot thrive when mealtime is an endless loop of applesauce, garbanzo beans, rice and dried pinto beans.
So under the category of “Now,” we’re asking for your donations of the following items that are most often requested: enchilada sauce, Ro-Tel, corn muffin mix, instant mashed potatoes, ramen noodles, canned peaches, jalapenos, peanut butter, chili, and cream-based soups.
These donations can be dropped off at pantry/our office at 307 North Brazos on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday mornings, as well as on Wednesday afternoons.
Under the category of “Later,” we hope you’ll join us again this year with the Advent bundle project. Please help us build Advent bundles by shopping for these condiments and spices: salt & pepper, oil (any kind), jelly, peanut butter, ketchup, mayonnaise or Miracle Whip, mustard, Ranch dressing, syrup, and seasoning packets (any size and flavor).
Look for bags with the Advent shopping lists at our partner churches during October and November. These premium nonperishables will be bagged up and given away to our pantry clients in December. We also are hoping for donations of reusable Tyvek or canvas bags.
As the Burton schools are still under construction and space constraints don’t allow for a free child nutrition "take home" program, we’re continuing to send home food packages for children who have been identified by the school as food insecure. This is an ongoing need.
Once a week, 17 children receive child-friendly, nourishing foods. These are food items that can be consumed without the help of a guardian.
Burton Bridge Ministry is underwriting the entire cost of this program, supplemented by your food donations as well as your financial gifts earmarked for this cause. We are requesting easy-to-open, nonperishable donations in the following categories.
Proteins: tuna, potted meat, peanut butter (individual servings), yogurt pouches, cheese, beans, Vienna sausages, Beanie Weenies, macaroni and cheese, Slim Jims, beef jerky
Vegetables: canned or packaged green beans, corn, peas, carrots, mixed vegetables, pickles
Fruits: fresh fruit, fruit in gel, peaches, pears, mixed fruit, cans of mandarin oranges
Drinks: juice boxes, shelf stable milk or chocolate milk, water, Gatorade, apple juice, Capri Sun, breakfast drinks
Breakfast items: Pop Tarts, single-serve cereal, granola bars, oatmeal, fruit and nut bars, packaged muffins
Salty snacks: crackers and cheese, pretzels, chips, peanuts, granola mix
Sweet snacks or desserts: pudding cups, Jell-O, cookie packs, Nutella
Thank you for thinking of these needs the next time you are at the grocery store.
